Summary
- The Knight is unlocked from the Training Camp (Tutorial).
- He is a single-target, melee troop with high hitpoints and moderate damage.
- A Knight card costs 3 Elixir to deploy.
- The Knight wields a long sword and has an amazing mustache, as the description states.
Strategy
- Due to his low Elixir cost and medium health and damage, the Knight is a good option to use with the damage dealing offense.
- Use the Knight as a meat shield for smaller troops, as it has fairly high hitpoints.
- Alternatively, the Knight can be used to back up higher hitpoint troops, such as the Giant Skeleton or Giant.
- The Knight can only target one target at a time. Using cards such as Guards or Skeleton Army will distract and overwhelm the Knight.
- With moderate hitpoints and damage, he can be played both offensively and defensively.
- He can survive a hit or two from a Prince, although Barbarians are still recommended over a Knight.
- He can be supported with Skeletons and Goblins to deal quick and great damage. This combo is not only cheap but versatile. It also gives you enough time and Elixir to defend against your opponent. Deploy a splash troop like the Bomber in case the combo fails.
- He is good for taking out glass cannons because of his good damage and fast attack speed.
- The Knight is actually a good counter to cards such as the Dark Prince and the Miner due to his higher health, damage per second, and, in the case of the former, Elixir advantage.
- The player should not ignore the Knight since he can actually deal great damage to an Arena Tower solo. They should use cheap troops to pull him towards the center like Spear Goblins and Archers, so the Knight gets distracted and can't get to towers easily.
History
- The Knight was released with Clash Royale's soft launch on 4/1/16.
- On 18/5/16 a Balance Update increased the Knight's hitpoints by 10%.
Trivia
- The Knight deals the same damage as a Royal Giant or Barbarians of equal level.
- From the Knight's description, Knights and Barbarians are said to be distant cousins, due to their physical similarities, and especially their awesome mustaches.
- In fact, they do the same damage per hit as mentioned above, but the Knight has a faster hit speed.
- When a Knight is defeated, his fallen sword is embedded in the Arena's ground, similar to the Dark Prince whose weapon is dropped, but not kept in the ground.
- When the Knight attacks, he will say things like, "Rah!" , "Ha-ha!" or "Hawk!"
- In the tutorial, the Knight is the first card you are told to use, although it is not required that you place him down first.
